The renovation of the 6,000 square foot Lake Travis Animal Hospital exemplifies adaptive reuse. The project involved transforming an existing metal fireworks warehouse by adding new structural bracing to withstand wind loads and support the new limestone and hardi plank exterior cladding. While the original metal roof was retained, it was upgraded with new skylights to enhance natural light in the treatment areas. The interior was completely renovated to include seven exam rooms, a surgery suite, an imaging suite, and an isolation suite for contagious animals. Separate entrances for dogs and cats were designed to reduce stress for both pets and their owners. Additionally, a silo near the entrance and waiting area was converted into a retail space for pet food and accessories.
