A joint venture in association with design architects L.S. Johnston Architects. The memorial was designed to commemorate Texas Peace Officers who have died in the line of duty. The memorial is situated on the northeast grounds of the Texas Capitol utilizing the windowless wall of the Sam Houston Building as a backdrop. The thirty-foot high granite obelisk, situated on an elevated platform, provides a focal point for the monument surround. A semi-circular granite wall, defining the back edge of the memorial, bears the names of all those honored for their service. The elevated granite platform (with inset stainless steel Star of Texas) and the planters/benches help to define the dynamic space and provide a place for one to reminisce the memory of a friend or a loved one.
